Oh, how I long to head to Arugam Bay!

Been on this island for 28 years and have travelled a lot but Arugam Bay still remains the best and most exciting place on this island paradise. Jungle beaches with amazing breaks, winds in the afternoon for some kitesurfing amongst the surfers, the crocodiles and ruines, nights under the stars and food....oh, how I long to head to Arugam Bay again.

Early in the morning I wake up,
Grab my Board Shorts and Surfboard,
I run to the bay....

Arugam Bay,
Thats where I want to be,
Arugam Bay,
Thats where I want to stay

Johnny's Hospitality - Dolphin Beach Kalpitiya

A really nice weekend came to an end for the kitesurf crew of Sri Lanka. Julian was soo relieved that his students won Gold at the SAF games. Yes, he decided to go kitesurfing and not to Bangladesh! The winds were North East so we had to make do with the main lagoon, however, we did do a offshore kite session - thanks Johnny for picking us up from the middle of the ocean!

Highlights of the trip would be;
1. Seeing the dolphins (not while kitesurfing - sigh)
2. The nights under the stars
3. Busted tire - #1 Keshini #2 Michi
4. Busted car buffer - #1 Keshini #2 Mischi
5. A whole day of sleeping for Julian
6. Kiting in the Puttalam Lagoon

Dolphin Beach, run by Johnathan Martynstien is a nice place for weekend getaway. The food is great and staff attentive. Johnnathan also runs one of the only professionally run Dolphing/ Whale Watching excursions (complete with Life Jackets, Trained Boatman, Boats with Shelter and ofcourse GPS!) Independence Day Kitesurf Session - Buba Mount Lavinia

An amazing independence day kitesurf session caught through the eyes of Sean at Buba Mount Lavinia. The winds were great - even a Navy Gun Boat came to witness the action! Pictures courtesy of Sean - more can be seen on http://picasaweb.google.com/coffee.needed/BubaBeach?feat=email#.
The weekend of the 5th - 7th saw the kite crew heading north to enjoy some North East wind conditions. We must congradulate fellow kiter and swimming coach Julian for being instrumental in bringing a couple of Gold Medals to our country at the SAF games! The beers are on us the next time Jubo.

Holger first to conquer Talaimannar Point

Breaking News: Just recieved a text from fellow Lankan Kitesurfer Holger Brummer saying "In an attempt to bring Sri Lankan Kitesurfing closer to our Indian Friends, Talaimannar Point was covered today. Could see Adams' Bridge AND the Pier. Yeah :)"

You beat us there Holger, well done and thanks for the tips! Sri Lanka certainly rocks. 2010 is going to be a blast for the Kitesufing Community of Sri Lanka. Hangloose and Keep it Real - Dilsiri
